Organised Screening Programmes

In Slovenia, there are three population based screening programmes: for early detection of breast cancer (DORA), cervical cancer (ZORA) and colorectal cancer (SVIT). The main objectives of the screening programmes are to lower the incidence and mortality rates and to diagnose these cancers at as early stages as possible. The residents of Slovenia in certain age groups are invited to the programmes (between 50 and 69 years of age for DORA; between 20 and 64 years of age for ZORA; between 50 and 74 years of age for SVIT). The expected results are achieved provided there is at least 70 % response rate, therefore it is of utmost importance for every invited person to respond to the screening programme.
